Welcome

Left to Right – Ian Patton, Gary Patton, Ernie Patton & Douglas (Dar) Patton

G’day and Welcome to my website.

“This site is for you Caitlin Anne, Brylie Grace, Ava Louise & Eli Robert”

Whether you are an immediate family member or a distant relative who has just started on their search for their family roots, Welcome.
I began my research in 1980 following a Patton Family Reunion that I was unable to attend due to being in the Army at the time.

I want to acknowledge the previous research of other family Researchers who have assisted me greatly in my understanding of my various family tree branches.
The following people have impacted on my research the most and for that I am truly grateful.

Marian Elizabeth “May” Patton 1882-1963
Caroline Francis “Carrie” Patton 1913-1981
Ellen Christine “Christine” Sommerville (nee DAFFY) 1952-2009 (PATTON Family)
Douglas John “Doug” Hutchinson 1940-1995 (PATTON Family),
Glenda Miller (HARRISON & SHEARGOLD Families).

Possibly, like you, I knew little of my Family History on either my Father’s Patton Family or my Mother’s Harrison Family.  I started out asking questions and writing the information in a school exercise book.  I purchased a C64 Computer and became a member of BBS Network which gave me access to FidoNet email

The C64 provided me with basic word processing and I generated some of my first reports for family members on this forerunner to the modern day PC.  When the Amstrad Computer with it’s 400Mb Hard Drive was released and the advent of modern day email, linked up with some Family Research Discussion Groups and my research grew.  Many of my enquiries regarding my family research still exist within the Search Engines.

I taught myself some HTML web design coding and established my first Webpage “Genealogy In Action”

If you were expecting to find a work of literary genius you will be sadly disappointed, my research is “piecemealed” from now over 40 years of research which I am gradually consolidating and trying to streamline the narratives of the various families that I have been researching.

Each Family listed on this website has a connection to me.

Looking For Something?

This website has been created to celebrate those who have gone before us., to remember their legacy and to create a link between our past and our future.
Sometimes others choose not to be part of your life but that still doesn’t stop you from loving and passing history and stories on to those who may never know how much you love them.
